Craft & Content
I offer a range of workshops to help you hone your writer's craft.

Thur 24th Oct
(online)
7-9pm [BST]

This is a workshop for all you flash curious writers out there. If you've been peeking at the short shorts or coveting the compact and bijou, wondering how you could possibly squeeze your stories into such a delightfully tiny form, then save the date, grab your ticket and let's get you flashing.
💥 In this online, real time session, we'll be exploring the short, the smokelong, the drabble, the micro, the mini, the sudden, the nano, the downright fast and furious form that is flash fiction. We'll look at examples of the genre from expert authors and you'll be guided to write your own. Expect to leave with ideas and inspiration and (most likely) several first drafts of new flash fiction pieces.
🌟 Led by award winning flasher, co-editor of the 2018 National Flash Fiction Day anthology and WriteClub founder, Alison Powell.

In this creative writing workshop, we'll examine traditional story structures, including the hero's journey and three act structure. You'll be given space to explore how to apply these to your own work. You'll find out how to enjoy plotting, playing with structure and how to use it to build tension, to engage, surprise and delight your readers.
This day is ideal if you:
â• are curious about the difference between story and plot
â• want to get to grips with the shape of your stories.
â• are keen to work on fiction or memoir.
â• want to understand how you can use narrative structure as a supportive tool.
â• are excited about getting new (or old!) stories plotted and ready to write.
There will be time for writing built into the day, as well as opportunities to collaborate, share and enjoy each other's work.
Writers at all stages of their journey are welcome. Suitable for new writers as well as those with novels to their names.
